Billy Mays (No Longer) Here...
by: Michael C.
Grimaldi
Billy Mays is dead. No word
if OxyClean had anything to do with his death. Could the ShamWOW guy be
next? Or do Celebrities really die in three's? And if so...was Billy
Mays even a celebrity? Michael Jackson's cause of death is still not
known...did he use OxyClean on his
skin? Did OxyClean cause Farrah Fawcett's cancer? Is OxyClean the hidden killer
insider your home? Will Warrior comment on Billy Mays' death? Stay
tuned...
BTW, Jeff Bradly reports that it
took CNN 2 hours and 31 minutes to report the story after TMZ.com did. CNN...your home for news that was

WWE The
Bash
Preview and Predictions
by: Michael C.
Grimaldi
The PPV formerly known as "The Great American Bash" is now just
known as "The Bash" due to the WWE wanting a more global appeal with their shows
names and it takes place tonight, live from the Arco Arena in Sacramento,
CA. Originally, the June 28th PPV was slated to be the "Night of
Champions" PPV, but that was changed earlier this year.
The show has not had very big build up, in part because the RAW
program has been more focused on hot shotting for ratings rather than building
interest in the PPV. In addition, the WWE has not had more than 3 weeks in
between PPV events since Wrestlemania XXV, making it very difficult to build new
programs that pick up enough heat to warrant a PPV match. Most of the
matches for this show were not even announced until two weeks ago.
The Bash will be a mix of old feuds with new stipulations as well as a
few new matches that have not been seen on the big stage of PPV before. I
don't see any match on the card that screams out "must see" and I expect
some shenanigans in at least two of the finishes. In other words,
this is a transition PPV to take the company from the Wrestlemania fallout to
SummerSlam and is likely to be forgettable.
Now, on to
matches...
No DQ Match- Dolph Ziggler vs. The Great
Khali
When the WWE made a bunch of cuts last fall and then again earlier this year, I was surprised Ziggler still had a job. Here's a guy who has been through 4 gimmick changes on WWE TV alone; as well as having one strike against him for violating the wellness policy back in October of 2008. Even in his days with "The Spirit Squad," he was on the lower end of the totem pole. That being said, I have been very surprised with how well Ziggler has progressed. It almost seems as if when he got his lip busted up Wrestlemania weekend in a match against the recently released, Sim Snuka, it set something off in him. A few weeks later he was drafted to Smackdown, and since then, he has been the fastest rising heel on Smackdown.
I don't really expect a lot from this match. Khali has a job for 2 reasons, his size and his popularity in his home country, India. By the end of the summer I would expect to see Ziggler feuding with someone over the Intercontinental title. The WWE hasn't been very subtle about wanting to compare Ziggler to "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig, even changing his music to a song entitled, "Perfection" (not to be confused with, Perfec-Shawn Stasiak). Ziggler should get a win here after Khali slips on a banana peel.
Prediction: Dolph Ziggler
WWE Women's Championship Match- (c) Melina vs. Michelle McCool
Both of these women, despite having been on the WWE roster for a few years now, are both still too green to actually be a legitimate champion. Melina has amazing flexibility and decent agility and McCool has been much more effective as a heel than she ever was as a babyface, but I do not thin either of these women are experienced enough to carry the other to a good match. I could be wrong, but I just don't see the crowd getting behind Melina enough to help out the match. If McCool wins, she will become the first "Diva" to ever hold the Divas Title and Women's title. Mickie James or Beth Phoenix on RAW should really be the first to accomplish such a feat, but since McCool won the Divas title at "The Great American Bash" last year, I'm going to bet the WWE will choose symmetry over logic.
Prediction: Michelle McCool
WWE Unified Tag Team Championship Match- (c) Primo and Carlito Colon vs. Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes
Ever since Randy Orton formed his Legacy group, everyone has assumed that Randy would hold the top title on RAW and DiBiase and Rhodes would hold the tag titles. For whatever reason, the WWE had decided to not even use the seemingly meaningless tag titles to put the younger two Legacy members over. That says just how little WWE cares about tag teams. At first glance, this match seems to have a pretty obvious conclusion, but I'm not so sure if I agree. If DiBiase and Rhodes win the titles, that means that they will be defending those titles, sometimes, on shows that Randy Orton is not on, due to the "stipulation" that the Tag Team Titles can be defended on all three brands. You could argue, that as Orton's backup, Randy would not want them focused on defending the titles on ECW, Superstars or Smackdown.
In the long run, if the tag titles are to mean everything, they need to have them away from RAW. If they capture the tag titles, I don't think DiBiase and Rhodes will have a long run as champions....but for now, I'll take them to win this match.
Prediction: Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes
ECW Championship Scramble Match- (c) Tommy Dreamer vs. Christian vs. Finlay vs. Jack Swagger vs. Mark Henry
Wow...Ummm...I honestly have no idea who will come out of this match as ECW Champion. It's hard to imagine Dreamer will have a very long championship reign. A few years ago, the idea that the next PPV, Night of Champions takes place in Philadelphia, it would seem a given than an "ECW Original" would be in the title match, but WWE has completely stripped ECW away from it's roots, so I doubt that will really play a factor. This match doesn't lend itself to a babyface winning the title, so I would take Christian and maybe even Finlay out of contention. The only was Henry should win is if they are ready to put a title onto Evan Bourne, since I don't see their feud being over just yet. That leave Dreamer retaining or Jack Swagger winning the title back. Since I already have two title changing hands on this show, I'm going to pick Dreamer with obvious reservation.
Prediction: Tommy Dreamer
WWE Intercontinental Championship- Title vs. Mask Match- (c) Chris Jericho vs. Rey Misterio
I said before the last WWE PPV that I didn't think they should rush into a match where Misterio put his mask up, figuring that the stipulation would have better heat if they held the match at SummerSlam in Los Angeles. Well, of course WWE didn't listen to me and are doing a IC title vs. Misterio's mask on this show, in northern California.
I just can foresee Misterio losing his mask again after it nearly killed his career in WCW after he lost it there. The big payoff still should be mask vs. hair at SummerSlam, with the IC title having been switched to either John Morrison or Dolph Ziggler by then. Have Misterio wins the IC title here and then either at Night of Champions or on Smackdown, have him drop it to Ziggler...with a little help from Jericho. Then, do the hair vs. mask at SummerSlam with Rey winning. Obviously Jericho is in line for a big feud with Undertaker, but who knows when Take will be ready. He'll probably need a feud in between Misterio and Undertaker to get his heat back if he loses his hair to Misterio.
All of this seems way to obvious, which has me nervous that WWE will try and do something they shouldn't, just because it isn't expected. Again, there is no way that Rey should lose his mask ever again, and I almost think that some of the heat that was reported between Rey and the company had a little more to do with this issue than anything else.
I expect this match to be very good, just like their Extreme Rules match was. If anything, that match was underrated.
Prediction: Rey Misterio
John Cena vs. The Miz
I'll admit that Miz has been pretty good up until this point, and this will be a huge test for him. The only problem I have with this feud is that at no point has Miz gotten over on Cena without help. Miz should win this match clean, but it seems the WWE does not want Cena to ever look weak, so I just can't see Cena taking a fall with a flash pin (ala how John Morrison beat CM Punk on Smackdown this week). I don't blame Cena, I just think the WWE is way over protective of him. All top talent needs to look vulnerable at some point and not be able to beat the odds, and in the past, Cena has done more jobs than most big names on PPV. For whatever reason that has changed drastically since Cena came back from his most recent injury at Survivor Series 2008, and it hasn't helped Cena or the RAW program.
The worst finish here would be a Cena win via DQ or Miz to get the pin with someone's help...here's hoping someone comes to their senses and does the right thing, because I think Cena, Miz and RAW would all be better off if Miz wins (reasonably clean).
Prediction: The Miz
WWE Championship- Three Stages of Hell Match- (c) Randy Orton vs. Triple H
I will say this right off the bat...there is no way that this match will come close to being as good as the last two "Three Stages of Hell" matches that Triple H has been in. The first, at No Way Out in 2001 against Steve Austin was, in my opinion, one of the best WWE matches of the year. The first fall in that match was under regular rules, the second fall was a street fight and the third fall was a cage match. At Armageddon 2002, Triple H faced Shawn Michaels in a Three Stages of Hell match for the World Title; another very good match, with the first fall being a street fight, the second fall a cage match and the third fall was a ladder match.
That was then...this is now. First off all, the stipulations in this match suck. The stretcher match is one of the most anti-climactic matches in all of wrestling, and I really have a hard time remembering a really good stretcher match...even Rob Van Dam vs. Sabu at the ECW Arena sucked.
I don't know of anyone who really wants to see another match between these two, but I also don't know who else would be the next contender for the title. Unless Cena is going to be one and done with Miz, there really isn't a lot of guys on either side of the RAW locker room who could challenge for the title. A win here for Triple H would be his 14th title reign. I honestly don't know who's going to win, but if I had to guess...
Prediction: Triple H
World Heavyweight Championship Match- (c) CM Punk vs, Jeff Hardy
This is a huge match for Punk. Last year at the Great American Bash, Punk retained the World title against Batista via double DQ when Kane interfered. That match wasn't very good. This year, Punk seems to have more momentum as champion, even though he did lose in a non title match to John Morrison on Smackdown this past week. The debate about wether or not Punk is a heel is moot because he's going to be the heel in this match. I think Punk works a lot better as a heel, not just as a character, but as a wrestler. As a babyface he is required to do more high spots...and that just isn't the kind of wrestler that he is. Punk is one of the few guys who understands how to make basic holds look good; like he did when he had Morrison on the mat caught in a head scissors on Smackdown. He takes a lot of the mat wrestling that you see in MMA and does the little things such as pulling his leg down with his own hands to increase the pressure on a simple move like that.
I expect to see a lot of that kind of mat work in this match. You always hear wrestling announcers always misusing the term "ground and pound" but in this match, I expect to see some actual ground and pound work.
As for Hardy...he very well could be working everyone about leaving, but I still think even if he does sign a new contract, he's going to take some time off soon. It doesn't make a lot of sense for Hardy to beat Punk here because it would derail any momentum Punk has gained. I love the way Punk has stolen Hardy's heat each of the last two shows they've been on. After Punk hit the GTS following his loss to Morrison, Todd Grisham actually had a really good line, saying "Sometimes good people do bad things...but is that what CM Punk is?" In other words, is he that or is he a bad person who has been doing good things. Of course...most people who know who Punk was before WWE already know the answer to that...hopefully the "WWE Universe" finds that out soon as well.
Prediction: CM Punk

Michael
Jackson Is Dead...
Warrior Is Not...WTF?!?
by: Michael C. Grimaldi
I
apologise for not putting up anything about the death of Michael Jackson on
Thursday. To be honest...it just didn't mean a whole lot to me. I
mean, I'm sorry the guy died, but I was never a huge Jacko fan. While the
stuff about sleeping in bed with children was very disturbing, I never found his
whole, "obsessed with being a child" gimmick as "weird" as people played it up
to be. The monkey...the amusement park at his Neverland Ranch...and of
course his obsession with plastic surgery; I didn't see any harm in a guy who
had his youth taken away from him to become a star in the music industry, trying
to go back and capture the life he clearly missed never having. Sadly,
Jackson, just like any addict, didn't have an off switch and he quickly
spiraled down into a world of isolation and fantasy. Again, in no way am I
defending his alleged actions to innocent children; but all the media coverage
of what he did in his life that only impacted himself was a way over
blown.
There are two good things to come from Jackson's death.
First, I hope all those rich and self absorbed douche bags who are afraid of
dying so they sleep in a hyperbaric chamber feel as stupid as they actually
should right now. Ummm...yeah...they don't work, fuck nuts.
The second good thing to come
out of Jackson's passing is....We get to hear another lesson on clean and
quality living from Warrior himself. A thank you to Gerweck.net and Dr.
Keith Lipinski for the following, un-edited stream of consciousness from the
world's most delusional man...Warrior! Enjoy.
Jacko. Finally, he beat it.
By admin
I imagine all the crying about the death of this recent drug-soused entertainment freak has most to do with the unfortunate inconvenience that the other drug-soused entertainment freaks now face. They will have to look for another local, safe and reputable babysitter. No longer will they be able to drop their kids off down the street at Jacko's to be watched for the afternoon and spend some play time with his own kids.
I hate the paparazzi, and think they should all be shot for the obsessive invasion of privacy. But I?m really going miss ALL those TMZ and Entertainment Tonight video clips of Jacko?s and other celebrity kids playing together. You ever see any of those? Weren't they great? Didn't they make you feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside? Worked for me. Every time I caught one it made me believe maybe he wasn't a pedophile. After all, famous and rich entertainers, with all kinds of money to go to any expense to have things accurately checked out for themselves, wouldn't let their own little babies near a pedophile...would they?!
Well, you gotta give him credit for one thing. He spent all his money (and then some) before he died. And that's not an easy thing to calculate. Go ahead, ask your financial planner if he has a plan to pull it off. For all the horrific mismanagement of millions and millions and millions of dollars, here at the end, Jacko did a pretty damn good job at balancing the books in his favor. Sorry, at my new age and with the way the Obama economic plan is going, I couldn't help but recognize this stunner.

Mitsuhara Misawa Dies Of Heart Attack
by:
Michael C. Grimaldi
Legendary Pro Wrestler Mitsuhara Misawa passed away
last night one week shy of his 47th birthday, after suffering a heart attack
during a match while teaming with Go Shoizaki against Bison Smith and Akitoshi
Saito for Pro Wrestling Noah in Hiroshima, Japan. Misawa
apparently suffered the heart attack following a back suplex from
Saito. It is said he passed away at the hospital, but that is probably
more spin than truth, because the idea of someone dying in the ring would be
really bad for the already troubled Japanese wrestling world.
A lot of
people will write about the great career of Misawa, and rightfully so; but I
cannot imagine how terrible this must be for the guys in that match, especially
Saito. A death that comes from the result of taking a bump in a wrestling
match is so uncommon, it's hard to really point to another such incident.
There have been plenty of debilitating injuries as the result of a botched spot
or bad bump; many that the effects of eventually led to death; but to die in the
ring from a bump...very rare. Those 3 men; Saito, Smith and Go will always
be remembered in Japan, no matter what they do, as the guys who were in the
match that saw a true legend of the sport die. That is a terrible cross to
bear.
I only saw Misawa wrestle twice in person, when he recently worked
a few ROH shows; one in Philly and one in New York. While I wasn't a
huge fan of Misawa, I remember 14 years ago when Dave Prazak would send
me All Japan tapes that he would rent and dub from a local Asian video store and
I would get to watch the classic ***** matches Misawa and Toshiaki Kawada had in
the mid 90's.
Mitsuhara Misawa, the
President of Pro Wrestling Noah, one of the greatest wrestlers of not only his
era or in Japan, but of all time anywhere, will be greatly missed by the entire
wrestling community.
